Ingredients
200g self-raising flour
1/2 tsp salt
50 margarine
25g sugar
50g sultanas
1 egg, beaten, with 75ml milk
Makes approx 5-6 scones
Method
- Preheat oven to 220c
- Mix flours and salt, rub in margarine
- Stir in sugar and fruit
- Add egg and milk, reserving a little for brushing the tops
- knead lightly on a floured surface and pat out with hand (don't roll) to 2cm thickness
- Cut into rounds, re-roll trimmings and cut more
- Place on a greased baking tray and brush tops with egg and milk
- Bake at 220c for 10-12 minutes
